Built to respond: YO’s risk monitoring in action
Good risk management means watching carefully and being ready to act.
Real-time monitors for DeFi’s yield protocols of today focus on monitoring the risk factors of individual positions, including paused protocols, queued upgrades, and suspicious interactions. Internal alerts follow such flags, and with that, the race to contain or eliminate risk & exposure begins.
Some trigger an immediate exit, like when a protocol gets paused, while others send alerts to risk teams for further investigation, such as an unexplained upgrade.
Exits, on the other hand, are built to move quickly.
YO takes risk seriously. Every protocol and yield source is evaluated through the YO Risk Graph before the vault starts allocating to it. Alongside that risk score, the protocol also monitors a growing set of more than 140 onchain and offchain metrics in real time. Across all YO vaults, this monitoring connects configured high-risk signals to automated withdrawals, helping move assets out of at-risk positions and back into the vault.
To measure that response, we ran controlled drills on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and HyperEVM. Each drill emitted an onchain signal and triggered the same emergency exit mechanism used by our live risk controls.
The clock started when the signal landed onchain and stopped when the first withdrawal landed, with assets verified back in the vault.
In the latest drills, that took 12 seconds or less on every tested chain.
Median times across the latest completed drills per chain:

→ Arbitrum: 2.5 seconds (12.5 blocks)
→ Base: 6 seconds (3 blocks)
→ HyperEVM: 7 seconds (7 blocks)
→ Ethereum: 12 seconds (1 block)
These are measured drill results, not guaranteed response times. Network conditions, available liquidity and the affected position can change how quickly an exit completes. A lending market with high utilization, for example, can limit how much comes out at once, so a large position may take more than one withdrawal.
Despite such curveballs, the purpose of these drills are straightforward: to regularly test the connection between detection and action. Monitoring helps identify a change; automated exits give YO a way to respond.
Because when a live signal trips the protocol’s breakers, we want you to know that the exit path has already been tested. That readiness is part of how YO manages risk every day.
